GAIL PHILLIP (She/Her)

Gail Phillip has a long-standing professional career in the North American music entertainment industry and is a lifelong advocate for the professional development of women. 

Gail honed skills as a TV executive in Marketing & Sales at the top Television Networks in Canada; CTV, Global & CBC before diving into the music industry, and has held roles as a Radio Executive at G987FM (CKFG-FM) and as Director of Advertising Sales for JAZZ.FM 91 (CJRT-FM).

She has a proven track record in all facets of artist management, has owned an independent label responsible for launching the careers of Juno nominated artist; Ray Robinson and Kim Davis, and has obtained sponsorships and endorsement deals from various companies including Roots Canada, Honey Jam, Universal Music Canada and major radio and television outlets.

She has formerly held positions as juror of The Juno Awards & Factor, as Network manager of NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment - Canadian Chapter), and as Artist Relations Director for UMAC (The Urban Music Association of Canada). 

Gail is currently Manager, Client Services for FACTOR (The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings) a non-for profit funding agency.

JAY DEVONISH (He/Him)

Director of A&R Marketing | eOne Music, DMC Grants, FORESEEN, Remix Project

With over 17 years of experience at eOne Music Canada, Jay is the current Director of A&R Marketing. Based in the Toronto office, he is responsible for recruiting and marketing artists for eOne Music. His project portfolio includes artists such as DJ Khaled, Jim Jones, The Diplomats, Wu-Tang, J Dilla, Madlib, Mayer Hawthorne, Aloe Blacc, Snoop Dogg, Wyclef Jean, Sizzla, Gyptian to name a few. Recent signings include Rhye, Charlotte Day Wilson, River Tiber, Prime Boys, Dudley Perkins & Georgia Anne Muldrow.

A man of many hats, Jay teaches "The Business of Music Program" at non-profit organization, The Remix Project, and runs DMC Grants, a grant administration company aiding artists, entrepreneurs, and businesses in securing funding for development. He also runs boutique record label and publishing company, FORESEEN Entertainment, focusing on finding and developing talent, which includes artists Once A Tree, beat sampras, J.u.D., Charles Freeman, GodsConnect and Laser.

AMARA NWOGU (She/Her)

Amara Nwogu is an entertainment business  professional with experience in politics, corporate, and the nonprofit sector. With the ability to translate large organizational goals into business objectives,

Amara has successfully bridged the gap between grassroots organizations and corporate to create impact. Leading the Music City strategy for Toronto as the Entertainment & Special Projects policy advisor for Mayor John Tory, Amara was able to empower community organizations, emerging musicians, and support entertainment businesses such as MLSE, AEG, Bell Media, Universal Music, Motion Pictures Association of America, and more.

She was determined to do the same at RBC, in partnership with Live Nation developing brand strategies, partnerships, and funding opportunities such as MVP Project, RBC Launchpad, and OVO Summit. 

Recently, Amara has worked with the international advocacy group, Global Citizen on their One World: Together At Home which aired  April 18th in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO). The historic, cross-platform global special that celebrated and raised $127.9 million (USD) for health care workers and coronavirus relief with performances and appearances from Lady Gaga, Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Jimmy Fallon, Usher and more.

STEPHANE MORAILLE (She/Her)

Director of Legal and Business Affairs | Phi Centre

Stephane Moraille is currently Director of Legal and Business Affairs at PHI. She holds a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law from Osgoode Hall Law School (York University). Her practice covers the area of music, film, television and technological arts (VR, AR, etc.). She has been practicing since 2005.  

Stephane Moraille is a contributor to the reflection of new business models for art and cultural organization and businesses. She is part of the renowned Phoenix Music Executive Development Program team as a law teacher.  

She promotes diversity as president of the jury of the fourth edition of the Dynasty Gala, highlighting black excellence. She is a director of the Conseil des arts et de la culture du Québec Board and has accumulated 14 years of experience in the strategic management of cultural and artistic organizations. She contributed to the forum, Copyright in the Digital Age: Issues and Perspectives of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications She sat on the VideoFACT from 1999 until 2008.

A true renaissance woman, Stephane became a lawyer after a series of international tours as an artist. She was nominated in 2015 for the Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize and has also received numerous awards from the music industry (Félix, Juno, Gold Record, MuchMusic Video Awards, SOCAN Awards, Canadian Radio Music Awards) as part of the collective Bran Van 3000.

She is interested in the business models in arts and entertainment and the emergence of solutions to bridge the current wealth gap and ensure cultural diversity.

WIDNEY BONFILS (He/Him)

A&R Executive | SOCAN

Currently an A&R Director at SOCAN, Widney previously occupied the same role at a well known Montreal label & publishing company. He oversaw recording projects for artists including Alx Veliz, Keshia Chante, and Rymz, and was responsible for the successful planning and execution of songwriting camps and workshops in both Montreal & the U.K. 

With a finger on the pulse of Quebec's emerging music scene, Widney has a deep knowledge of the Francophone music market, and connections within the community at large. He has served as Business Development Director and Account Executive at information technology research & advisory company, Gartner Inc., recruiting clients and providers while promoting the company's services. 

He holds a degree in Communication Marketing from the University of Québec in Montréal (UQAM).

AISHA WICKHAM (She/Her)

Music Program Consultant | Ontario Creates

Aisha’s career has been focused on developing and promoting Canada’s music industry.  She is currently a Program Consultant for the Ontario Music Office at Ontario Creates (formerly known as the Ontario Media Development Corporation).

Previous roles include senior management positions with Toronto radio stations FLOW 93.5 and G98.7 FM; Nia Centre for the Arts; the Urban Music Association of Canada; and the Canadian Independent Recording Artists’ Association of Canada. She also ran her own communications consulting practice, ngoma productions, specializing in project management, marketing strategy, business plan development and writing services for the music and broadcasting sectors. 

Aisha has served on numerous Boards and Committees, including the Toronto Arts Council Music Committee, the National Advisory Board for the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR), the Ryerson University Alumni Association, and the Community Engagement Council for the Toronto 2015 PanAm/ParapanAm Games.

Aisha is the recipient of the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment Award for Behind the Scenes Executive of the Year, the Canadian New Media Award for Outstanding Young Woman and the Harry Jerome Award for leadership. 

She holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson University.

David “Click” Cox started his career as a member of the MMVA winning and JUNO nominated group, The Maximum Definitive.

He created a reputation for his promotional and marketing efforts working closely with concert promotions company REMG.

Soon after, he started his career working with BMG Music Canada and then worked at Universal Music Canada as A&R. During his time with Universal, David founded the Stylus Awards to celebrate the Canadian urban music talents and recognition of DJs.

After 8 years with Universal, he created his own entertainment company, CLK Creative Works. Today, CLK is responsible for managing an eclectic roster of highly skilled and experienced artists. Along with management, David teaches music business at Metalworks and The Remix Project.

Ian Andre Espinet is a Toronto born, serial entrepreneur and lifelong community advocate. A business professional with over 2 1/2 decades of combined expertise in various areas of business, he is a proficient marketer, graphic designer & creative director, social media specialist, entertainment impresario, public speaker and community servant.

More than the sum of his parts, he is a trusted and respected member of the Canadian entertainment scene.

He is owner, creative director/principle designer at Black Star Graphic Design & Communications, a boutique design & print agency established in 1996. Iconic Arts & Entertainment established in 2001, is one of Canada's most respected "Urban" club & concert promotions companies and has produced 100's of events for 10's of 1000's of patrons.

Amongst his signature brands are Toronto's World Renowned RNB event, The Soul Kitchen (est. 2003), Icon, The One, Carpe Diem, The B-Boy Document and The Legendary Amnesia Old School event (est. 1999), which boasts over 50 old performances and is one of the only EVENTS to sign a major label recording label deal in Canada (Universal Music).

In December 2018, Emancipation Consciouswear, his heritage clothing line established in 1993 was reinstated after a 15 year hiatus.

He frequently volunteers, and speaks to children/youth on entrepreneurship; has served on the board of CHRY/VIBE 105.5fm (4 years); Caras' JUNO hip hop jury; and FACTOR's Juror for Hip Hop & R&B for the last 5 sessions. He is recipient of the Government of Canada's "150 Neighbours" CityBuilder Award (for service in Scarborough) and a City of Toronto Volunteer & Community Service Award.
